Douchebag 101

It seems young Dane Phaneuf is in line to take over his older brother Dion's crown of being the biggest douchebag this side of the 49th.

And of course Dion thinks it's funny. Bravo Dane.

Never Forget

In honour of Rememberance Day and Veterans Day in the United States, I have dedicated this day's blog to the men and women who have fought for our freedom and those that continue to fight for our freedom in Afghanistan and around the world. Thank you for fighting for our freedom.

To make it hockey related, here is a list of those that perished in the World Wars.

World War I
- Allan Davidson: June 15th, 1915
World War II
-Red Garrett: November 25th, 1944
-Joe Turner: January 12th, 1945

Lest We Forget.

In Flanders Field
By John McCrae, MD. May 1915

In Flanders Field the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Field.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Field.

What Has Max Talbot Done While Not Playing?

This does seem like a legitimate question, does it not? Aside from his gallivanting with hot pieces of the opposite sex, do we really know? Well, Lena and I certainly don't know as we don't live in Pittsburgh (although I'd certainly live in a city where you get Stanley Cup parades). So I decided to make up my own story on what Superstar has been doing for the past two months besides cheering on the team from the pressbox and going to rehab. So in this Talbot Tomfoolery edition of the blog, it's going to be set up as an interview. Me obviously being the interviewer and Max being the interviewee. So here it goes.

I see Max come into the studio, stand up and walk over to him. "Hi, Max," I say, shaking his hand. "I'm Nicole."

MT: "Hi, Nicole. Nice to meet you," he says, returning the handshake and blatantly checking me out.

I smile and blush a little. "So Max," I start. "First off, how is the shoulder?"

MT: "Ehhh it's alright," he says. "We'll see how it is once I start skating more."

"Fair enough," I say. "Okay, so the most important question of all. What have you been doing for the past two months?"

MT: "A lot of flirting," he jokes, winking at me. "But in all seriousness... flirting, having fun at home. You know the usual."

I again blush. "Sounds like a blast," I smile. "Do you spend a lot of time away from the guys or do you still hang out with them?"

MT: "Of course I still hang out with the guys," he says. "They're all weird in their own way, but I love them," he adds, as Geno pokes his head in and looks. "Hey, hey Geno!"

I look and smile. "Geno, no it's Max's turn to get interviewed," I say. "Your turn is tomorrow."

MT: "Awww poor Geno," he laughs. "Any other questions, Nicole?"

I look back at Max. "Can you say Superstar for me?" I ask, giggling a little bit.

MT: He laughs and stands up. "SUPERSTAR!"

I laugh hard. "Thank you, Max," I say. "Are you anxious to get back out there and play?"

MT: "Of course, but the time off has given me time to reflect on what I can do to better mys..." he stops, laughing and falling over.

I laugh harder. "Oh Max, you couldn't finish that with a straight face, could you?" I ask.

MT: He sits back up. "No, I couldn't," he says. "Interview over now?"

"Yeah, I have no more questions," I say. "So, off the record now."

"Awesome," he says. "So, would you like to go out with me?"

...

To Be Continued. Do I or don't I?

RIP Letang's Hair

So Lena and I were chatting online as per usual and had horrific news and, of course, had to tell me right away. Well, I was mortified, naturally of course. KRIS LETANG CUT HIS HAIR! Oh the humanity. It was so beautiful. Here is a tribute of Kris hair of past.

This gave me an idea for some tomfoolery with Kris. So here it goes. In this story I am of course said "friend" of Kristopher. The setting of this takes place in a coffeehouse after Kris' haircut.

I sit in the coffee shop, waiting for Kris, some hot man walking in and I check him out. He smiles and comes over to me. I'm thinking, "Oh my god, he's coming over to me..."

"Bonjour Nicole," he says, saying my name perfectly. I look up at him and my mouth drops.

"Kristopher?" I ask, looking at him, completely amazed and upset all at the same time.

"What seems to be the problem?" he asks, giving me that smile of his.

"YOUR HAIR!" I exclaim. "Your gorgeous, sexy hair... it's all gone..."

He chuckles. "I'm sorry," he says. "I had to. It was annoying the shit out of me."

"Well... okay," I pout.

He frowns. "You don't think it's sexy anymore," he says.

"Oh no I do. Trust me I do," I say. "But it's just a complete shock. It's been a long time since you've had short hair."

"Yes I know," he says. "It's not super short. I still think I'm sexy."

"You'll always be sexy," I say, smiling a bit. "Want some coffee now?"

End of Story.

Now that I've had a couple of days to think about Letang's hair; it really does suit him and looks fantastic. As the video shows:

Now, I personally think that Kris' hair was perfect when he won gold at the World Juniors. He's so young in this picture. RIP Luc :(

RIP Letang's Hair. And as Lena said to me the other night. He needs to have a memorial service for his hair. For women and Lemangs (thank you HockeyJunkies) everywhere.
